Joe Fly Sailing Team was born in 2001 out of businessman Giovanni Maspero's love for the sea. Over the years, Joe Fly has successfully competed in one-design classes, becoming internationally known and claiming various titles in Italian and European championships.

In February 2009, Joe Fly merged into a single force with Vasco Vascotto’s Dabliu Sail Project team to compete in the much awaited Louis Vuitton Pacific Series (Auckland, NZ). The undertaking delivered astonishing results: team Italia claimed fourth place overall, just a step behind sailing legends Emirates Team New Zealand, Alinghi e BMW Oracle. Team Italia was also first among the Italian teams and third among the challengers of Team New Zealand.

In June 2009, Italia by Joe Fly chose to compete independently and entered Louis Vuitton World Series. This high-level professional sailing circuit, strong of the great success experienced in Auckland, will bring America’s Cup boats and world’s best teams back on the water.

The project grew out of our dream to take part in a prestigious event with a group of all-Italian yachtsmen and management staff.
Our work programme has always been based on physical and psychological training for the entire crew.
Capacity to keep a clear head, concentration and drive are some of the basic qualities needed to sustain such a demanding project.
